Terms of Service
Last updated: 21 June 2026
Converse is an app for recording short, prompt-guided audio conversations and sharing them publicly or privately. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Maximilian Mitchell (“Converse”, “we”, “us”), who publishes the app. By creating an account or using Converse, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Converse. If you have any questions, email us at [email protected].
Who can use Converse
You must be at least 13 years old to use Converse. The app isn’t intended for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly allow them to create accounts. If you’re using Converse where you live, you’re also confirming you’re allowed to do so under the laws that apply to you.
Your account
You’re responsible for your account and for keeping your password safe. Everything that happens under your account is your responsibility, so don’t share your login and let us know promptly if you think someone else has access. Please give us accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date.
Your content and the licence you grant us
You keep ownership of the conversations, titles, descriptions, and other content you create in Converse (“your content”). To run the service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, transcribe, reproduce, and share your content — but only as you direct.
That means: when you make a recording public, this licence lets us show and share it publicly, including through a shareable link; when you keep it private, we only share it with the audience you choose. We also process your content to provide core features such as transcription and generating titles, descriptions, and conversation prompts. This licence ends when you delete your content or close your account, except for copies we need to keep briefly for backups or to meet a legal obligation. You’re responsible for the content you record and share, and you should only share content you have the right to share.
Acceptable use
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. We want Converse to be a place for genuine, respectful conversation, and we act decisively when it isn’t. You agree not to post, record, share, or use Converse for any of the following:
- Harassment, bullying, or targeted abuse of any person.
- Hate speech or content that attacks or demeans people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, age, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
- Threats of violence, or content that incites or glorifies violence or self-harm.
- Sexual content involving minors, or any content that sexualises children — this is never permitted and will be reported to the authorities.
- Other sexually explicit or pornographic content.
- Illegal content, or content that promotes illegal activity.
- Spam, scams, or deceptive or manipulative behaviour.
- Impersonating another person, or misrepresenting who you are.
- Recording or sharing people without their consent, or otherwise violating someone’s privacy.
- Infringing anyone’s intellectual property or other rights.
- Attempting to disrupt, hack, or abuse the app or its infrastructure.
Make sure anyone you record is happy to be recorded and shared before you publish.
Reporting and enforcement
If you come across content or behaviour that breaks these Terms, please report it. You can report content directly in the app, or email us at [email protected].
We review reports and aim to act on them within 24 hours. Where content or a user violates these Terms, we may remove the content, and we may suspend or permanently remove the user responsible. We don’t tolerate objectionable content or abusive users, and we take action regardless of how a violation comes to our attention.
Termination
You can stop using Converse and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if your use puts other people or the service at risk, or if we need to for legal or security reasons. When an account is terminated, your right to use Converse ends, though some provisions of these Terms — such as those about your content licence and liability — naturally continue afterwards.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Converse is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep the app working well and reliably, but we can’t promise it will always be available, error-free, or secure, and we’re not responsible for the content other people share.
To the extent the law allows, we won’t be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of Converse. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that can’t be limited under the law that applies to you.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “last updated” date above, and significant changes will be highlighted in the app or by email. If you keep using Converse after a change takes effect, that means you accept the updated Terms.
